I watched this film recently as it was on Paramount plus. Novacaine is a play on words as the main character’s name is Nathan Caine played by Jack Quaid. Because of his genetic deficiency he was teased as a boy for not being able to feel pain. Nate also doesn’t eat certain foods because he fears biting off his own tongue. To sum up the plot, ‘boy meets girl’ while working at the same bank. Boy falls in love with girl, boy comes out of his shell, boy goes on a rampage when girl is kidnapped in a bank robbery, and then girl betrays boy. The film’s humor is a little campy but also manages to be violent and over the top in some scenes. IMDB viewers gave this a 6.5 out of 10, and I basically confirm this rating of 6.6 out of 10. A lazy day watch, but there might be more interesting films to watch before this.
